[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Those of you who follow me know how important it is to support local businesses. As we celebrate the Grand Opening of our newest location in the historic Spring Arcade Building in Downtown Los Angeles, I’d like to take this opportunity to say how excited we are to be in the company of some incredible restaurants.

Downtown LA has become a beacon for exquisite culinary experiences, and it’s definitely worth exploring them when you feel like trying something new, or going out to a different neighborhood.

Here’s a list of some of the best #DTLA has to offer, which are also some of my favorites to frequent.

One of my favorites in all of LA. Executive Chef Gavin Mills is truly amazing. His house-made charcuterie are amongst the best I have ever tasted. His menu is very much influenced by Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, and I just love the bold and fun flavors he has created.

The venue has an amazing whisky bar in its basement, making it the perfect after-dinner dinner spot. Slide down there and ask for Harry and tell them Chef Kamil sent you. Harry is a walking encyclopedia he is when it comes to whisky. Just sip and listen, and you will love it.

Chef Neil Fraser’s menu is simply wonderful. I have been several times for lunch and dinner and never had a bad meal. The service is good and food is the key. The space is very nice, and was designed by his wife wife, Amy. I met Chef Neil awhile back at Grace and really loved the simplicity and taste of his food creations. If you go, you will not regret it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”6660″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]LITTLE SISTER

Chef Tin’s food is fantastic! It’s creative, bold, and fun to eat. Their Far-East-inspired menu with a glass of Riesling is an experience not to be missed. My favorite dishes include, lemongrass chicken, fresh shrimp spring rolls, and the salt and pepper lobster. They really do it right[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”6666″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Guisado’s DTLA

Located in the same spot as the new Blu Jam Café, they serve amazing tacos and their sampler platter is to die for. Their homemade corn tortillas and salsas. . . Damn, they know what they doing!

408 S. Main Street, LA 90013

I first met Jose Centero at Opus, and then again at Lazy Ox. His Baco Mercat is full of robust flavors and is well-priced. The best  things on the menu are the Toron, Fava Fritter, Okra, Ricotta Fritters, and Black Mussels, just to name few.

541 S. Spring Street, LA 90013

No words needed. Ok, just few. LOL!

I decided while back that I would to make everything from scratch to avoid eating chemicals and crap in my food. Yes, it is difficult for my kitchen staff at times, but they pull[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1496731149085{margin-top: -20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]through and the result is amazing. Home cooking for 800 plus people, it is truly incredible that we pull it off.

We use nitrate-free, high quality ham, turkey (which we bake in-house), and nitrate free-bacon, which is  smoked the traditional way while using ingredients I can pronounce— celery seeds, sugar, salt, and pepper.

I am proud what we have accomplished and look forward to the future. I am excited about bringing a serious daytime restaurant to DTLA.

Bon Apetite,
Chef Kamil
